This rockin’ octopus mural brightens the exterior wall of the Anchor Motel in Surfside Beach, Texas. The joyful cephalopod holds two djembes while playfully clinging to an anchor—an homage to the motel’s namesake.

The mural was commissioned by a dear friend who was managing the motel at the time. A devoted carrier of an African drum lineage, rhythm and drumming are deeply woven into his spirit. This piece celebrates that passion, merging coastal charm with ancestral beats.
